What we provide
- We build a website for your business from the package you choose.
- We host it and keep it running, secure and backed up for as long as you have a monthly Talk plan.
- We give you the Studio, where you change your site by voice or text, with undo and a history of every version.
- We add the optional extras you order, such as another language, a blog or an online shop.
The free trial
You can try a first version of your own site for 9 days with 9 free voice edits. The trial is free and you do not have to go ahead.
Prices and payment
- Our prices are on the Pricing page, in South African rand.
- A website build is paid once: a deposit of about 50% to start, and the balance when the site goes live.
- A Talk plan is paid monthly in advance for as long as the site is live with us.
- We email you an invoice for every payment. You pay by card through Paystack, our payment provider. We never see or keep your card number.
- If a monthly invoice is not paid, we remind you, then pause the site 14 days after the due date. It comes back as soon as the invoice is paid.
- If we change the price of a monthly plan, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you.
Refunds and cancellation
You can cancel at any time. What is refunded, and what happens to your site, is set out in our Refunds and Cancellations policy, which is part of these terms.
What is yours and what is ours
- Your words, photos, logo and business details stay yours. You give us permission to use them to build, host and show your website.
- A domain name we register for you is registered to your business, never to us.
- Once your build is paid in full you can download your website or have it published to your own hosting.
- The Talk Portal platform, the Studio and the software behind them stay ours.
What you are responsible for
- Giving us information that is true, and that you have the right to use, including every photo and logo.
- What your website says and sells, and the laws that apply to your business.
- Keeping your sign-in details to yourself.
- Not using the service for anything unlawful, misleading or harmful, or to send spam.
Referral partners
Many of our clients come to us through a partner, such as a web designer, an agency or a consultant. A partner earns a share of what their client pays us. We pay that share out of our own price. Your agreement for the website and the plan is with Digital Cartel.
Other services your site may use
Your site may use services run by others, such as Google Analytics, Google Maps, WhatsApp, a domain registrar or a booking system. Their own terms apply to those services, and we cannot promise they will always be available.
Availability and changes
We work to keep every site online and fast, but we cannot promise it will never be down. Changes made by voice are carried out by software, so check each change after you make it. Undo is free and every earlier version is kept.
Our responsibility to you
If we get something wrong, we will put it right. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for lost profit or other indirect loss, and the most we owe you is what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act.
Your information
Our Privacy page says what we keep about you and why, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. If a change affects what you pay or what you get, we email you before it applies.
The law that applies
These terms follow the law of South Africa.
